Today after all presentations, we discussed classroom management. I wanted to focus on classroom management for the blog because classroom management is very important for a conducive learning environment. Dr. Rivera gave us a lot of tips for good classroom management.
- positive and negative reinforcement
- using buddy systems
- arranging desks properly
- making a comfortable learning environment
- keeping your classroom safe
- using paraprofessionals
- good relationships with stakeholders
There are so many ways we can practice good classroom management. As teachers, because learning is ongoing, we should always take extra training courses.
Besides this great classroom discussion, I just wanted to tell everyone that I truly enjoyed all your book reviews. Have a great weekend!
Hi Amanda! I liked that you chose a book that is targeted for older readers. I think that it is definitely a good strategy to use a challenging book to get students motivated to read. I too think we need extra training, but it is up to us to take the courses even if it is not required (at least until it does become a requirement).
ReplyDeleteI am glad you shared your book with us. It sounds very familiar, but i will definitely try to read it. Dr. Rivera did give us a lot of tips for managing our classroom. I will definitely keep those factors in mind in the future.
ReplyDeleteClassroom management is always an issue where ever we go. There are some teachers who know how to turn there plans around when its going down south but others who do not. I really think it something you really learn from experience you need to see what works for you and the students. That is why when you prepare yourself you are ready with things that you are comfortable with. PREPARATION is key.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your book with us, it looks like a really good read! Classroom management is very important and I think one thing that a teacher has to have in the classroom is good impromptu skills. To be able to think on your feet is important in that it helps you keep control.
ReplyDeleteYour book review was awesome! A Wrinkle in Time is a great book and students will enjoy reading it. Classroom management is one of the most important functions a teacher has to do daily. Without it, our classroom would be out of control. I will definitely use Dr. Rivera's tips on classroom management.
