Professional Articles

In today’s class we presented our professional article #2. It was great to hear about all the different articles and how we can relate and learn from them. Understanding what works and how we can help students succeed in reading is what we as teachers should do. My article is called “Reading in the Digital Age: Using Electronic Books as a Teaching Tool for Beginning Readers” by Katia Ciampa. My article was about the use of eBooks in the classroom and to see if it has a significant difference from regular reading instruction. I think introducing new ways to motivate students to read and to keep them focused is something that teachers should be always looking out for. Technology is becoming more and more advanced and I think we need to be familiar with all the new stuff that is coming out, especially if it will benefit students in the classroom. Today’s class session was very informative and I hope to hear more great ideas next time we meet. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. Hi Evin! I liked your article on Ebooks. I think that Ebooks are a great alternative especially in light of GDOE's lack of funding for new material. We can find so many wonderful books our students can benefit from. Technology is truly amazing!

  2. Hey Evin, I really enjoyed your article about the EBooks. You're right, we have to embrace these technology tools, and use it to our advantage. I wish we could incorporate technology in our classes. Its such a shame that DoDea has all those resources, and our public schools only have a selected few who have digital tools in their class. I feel like our school system is too outdated for our students today. Its like the generation is always one step ahead of what the class has to offer...we should be on the same page or one step ahead of them.
