Professional Article Presentations

Adolescent Literacy: More than Remediation Gina Biancarosa Educational Leadership 2012

Today everyone presented their professional articles, there was so much information that I can't summarize everyone's presentation. Thankfully everyone is going to blog their articles so that I can go back and read them.

In general, all the articles presented today were very helpful. I can see the importance of integrating all the ideas from them in my classroom. I noticed that most of the articles integrated the use of technology. I really appreciate that Rhea brought up that point how we're scared to have our students work with gadgets because they are expensive, and we don't want them to break it. However, Kelsey pointed out that there are so many accessories to keep our gadgets safe. This is the age of the digital era, most of the children can operate these tech tools better than we can...so we just have to give them chance.

  2. Yes, children are becoming more aware and proficient in using technology tools. Still, we have to remember that there are quite a few students who are not fortunate enough to be exposed to these gadgets. Because of that, we need to ensure that all students realize that the tools are not toys and must be handled carefully. I am sure that we, as teachers, will be more proactive in allowing our students to explore the tools without the anxiety of damage and misuse.

  3. Hey Amanda, I agree that students now a days probably know more about these tools that are coming out. We just need to prepare ourselves and read up on the new technologies that are being introduced.
