Technology and Literacy
Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful spring break! Today's session focused on technology and how it is a teaching tool. The discussion included different types of technology tools that can aid us in meeting our teaching objectives. It was fun talking about the "old" gadgets in comparison to what we use now. Since I am an older student, I can definitely relate to the more simpler technology. I have to say that I don't believe that the lack of technology in my school days impeded my learning at all. A good teacher should be able to successfully teach regardless of how many (or little) teaching aids and tools he or she has access to. We must remember not to be reliant on technology to do our jobs. Still, technology has been proven to enhance learning and build motivation and interest. Thus, it should be used whenever appropriate.
And great job to Amanda, who shared her lesson with us today! I truly loved all her ideas and her story was hilarious. I look forward to hearing about the practicum experiences of the rest of the class! Have a great weekend!

I agree Rachel, a good teacher should be able to teach his or her lesson with or without these technology tools. It's a tool and we should use it to enhance learning.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed talking about the old gadgets. Although I did not know what the other gadget similar to the VHS was, it sounded interesting! I could imagine going to the video store and them asking you to choose between one or the other! Technology is great, but traditional teaching is great too!
ReplyDeleteTechnology has definitely changed over the years!I liked how you pointed out that we should not let technology take over our job, because teaching isn't about having fancy technology tools. It is about how well a teacher impact's a student's learning with or without technology.
