Today we presented our Philosophy on Reading. My major beliefs was to have a positive and fun filled environment, be creative when creating lessons so that students will stay engaged, be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of all our students and use their strengths to accomplish the skills needed to learn, and to use the strategies we learned in college in our future classrooms.
I really enjoyed all of the presentations, it is a good way for us as future teachers to be aware of the different beliefs and how we can relate. I liked how Rachel had a presentation on the board on her major beliefs on reading. I liked how she mentioned that we should not only use the books but we should find other ways that worked to teach a lesson.
I noticed that most of our beliefs were similar but were presented in our own way. I know I was nervous, which I always am in front of adults. When I teach little ones, I don't get nervous. Oh, how I wish I could just not be nervous.
Even though you were nervous, you did an excellent job. I did not notice that you were nervous. I enjoyed hearing all of your points.
ReplyDeleteHi Jess! It's quite natural to be nervous! I still get nervous when I'm presenting, but as long as you are confident in what you want to share, it will get easier. My advice is to not rely on notes, but on the knowledge that you have stored inside yourself. This really helps me when I present. You did a great job and I know you will be a great teacher!
ReplyDeleteHi Jessilyn! I also believe that it is very important to keep the students engaged and the only way to do it is to continue to be creative. I like how you mentioned you have different ways of teaching the same lesson and that you have a back up plan. It is important to be prepared when it comes to ineffective lesson delivery and you must also be able to improvise. Thank you for sharing your beliefs with us!
ReplyDeleteHi Jess! I think you and I are on the same boat. I get nervous when I'm in front of our classmates, but when I teach a lesson to the little ones, I'm always ready and calm. I guess we just need to relax and not over think it. You did a great job regardless and I agree that we have to have a positive and inviting atmosphere for reading. This will allow students to always be engaged and excited for reading.
