Philosophy Presentations

In today's class session everyone presented on their philosophy on teaching reading. It was interesting and refreshing to hear everyone's beliefs on the subject and I found that my philosophy is similar to most of my classmates'. I found that I agreed and support all the philosophies that were presented because there were points that I definitely agree with and others that make me wonder why I hadn't thought of including in my philosophy. Some points that were mentioned was how reading occurs and is important in all content areas. Another that stuck to me was how we as educators need to be open-minded on the different strategies and tools that is available for us to utilize in our classrooms with our students. I enjoyed hearing everyone's presentations today and has reassured me that we all have the same mentality and beliefs, which goes to show that UOG has great teachers in the making.

  1. UOG does have great teachers in the making :) I was pleased as well to hear the similarities we shared, but I loved hearing the ones we didn't. I too had those moments of "Man! Why didn't I think of that." But that's why we share and collaborate...so we can learn from each other.

  2. Hi Kelsey! It was weird that everyone had similar philosophies, and I honestly thought you were reading off my paper! haha Well you know what they say, great minds think alike! I know we will all be great teachers one day and I really like how we all help each other out to reach that goal.
