Philosophy in Teaching Reading

Today was a fun filled day full of presentations of philosophies in teaching reading. As a future educator, I believe that the goal of teaching reading is to give students the skills, strategies, and knowledge to read fluently and understand various texts. It is important that we, as teachers make reading a fun learning experience that students can enjoy. Everyone had great key points in teaching reading, such as integrating reading to content areas, technology, and making the learning environment positive and fun. It was interesting to listen to everyone's philosophy, because I know we will be great educators when we have our classroom. Everyone did a great job!!! I also liked how we ended the class with "Dr. Rivera's Pea". It was a great way to end our class with saying 3 positive things about our classroom.

  1. I really enjoyed listening to your beliefs about the teaching of reading. It makes me want to ask you to print out your paper so that I can read it for myself! I also liked the activity that Dr. Rivera made us do, it's always nice to hear positive things about yourself!

  4. Dr. Rivera's PEA was awesome! I love that even though we are already grown adults, we still feel good after someone says nice things about us. It is always important to remember that we all have positive and admirable characteristics. Stay confident and proud always!

  5. Hi Angela! I also enjoyed everyone's ideas on the teaching of reading. Everyone did a great job and the PEA was something different, but it was different in a positive way. Hearing all the good comments everyone wrote was awesome and it pushes me to stay focused so that I can achieve success.
