Philosophy Presentations!
Today we all shared our philosophies about the teaching of reading. It was nice to be able to rate and comment on the presentations. It offers us the chance to read feedback from our classmates, which will help us for future speaking tasks. Everyone had great points to share, many beliefs were similar in nature. Kelsey mentioned that reading is a life skill, which is absolutely true. I also liked Rhea's ideas about early childhood reading strategies. Amanda recommended that our philosophies should not be just beliefs, but actions that we all need to perform as teachers. She is completely right on! I truly enjoyed each person's views about the teaching of reading. We all want the best for our students so no matter what our individual views are, we all have a common goal. I know that we will be reaching out to each other throughout our teaching careers. Thank you everyone for all that you have shared with me throughout this semester. And even though the semester is almost over, remember that learning is ongoing!

At first the presentation ratings gave me so much anxiety, but after the class session is done, I'm glad we did this today. I appreciated getting feed back from everyone. It gives me a better sense of my strengths.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel! I agree that receiving feedback is important so that we know our strengths and our weaknesses. And Amanda made a great point, a philosophy should not only just be a belief, but something that we need to make happen and follow through. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour welcome. I think everyone shared great points in the presentations. It was nice to get comments but I wish we knew before hand to prepare ourselves a little more.
